{"id":42323,"date":"2023-03-04T19:52:22","date_gmt":"2023-03-04T17:52:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mssociety.org.il\/?p=42323"},"modified":"2023-03-04T19:52:22","modified_gmt":"2023-03-04T17:52:22","slug":"mayzent-siponimod","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mssociety.org.il\/en\/mayzent-siponimod\/","title":{"rendered":"Information about Mayzent (siponimod)"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Mayzent is a drug that is taken orally once a day and acts with the mechanism of an S1P receptor modulator &#8211; preventing the release of immune T cells from lymph nodes into the blood. Mayzent helps prevent penetration of T cells from the blood into the brain and spinal cord and has proven high efficacy in delaying disease progression.<\/li>\n<li>In a phase 3 study, Mayzent was able to slow the effects of disease activity, such as a decrease in seizures and brain lesions, as well as a slowdown in worsening disability. Mayzent was also able to show a reduction in the risk of cognitive decline and delayed wheelchair dependency (EDSS\u22657) by an average of 7.9 years.<\/li>\n<li>Mayzent is broken down by CYP2C9, and therefore, patients should have a simple genetic test to characterize the genotype of this enzyme to adjust the correct dose for them.<\/li>\n<li>The clearance time of Mayzent from the body is relatively short compared to other drugs in multiple sclerosis &#8211; only 6 days.<\/li>\n<li>COVID 19 &#8211; From studies and evidence accumulated during the COVID-19 period, it was found that the immune response to the COVID-19 vaccine was higher among Mayzent patients (66%) compared to patients treated with fingolimod from the same class of drugs.<\/li>\n<li>Do not get pregnant under Mayzent treatment and up to 10 days after stopping treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Common side effects: Macular edema &#8211; reversible condition if diagnosed early, infections, increased liver function, increased blood pressure, shingles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Availability<\/u><\/strong>: The treatment is available in the medication basket for RRMS patients and in the SBS basket in Clalit and in Maccabi for active SPMS patients as well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Image: christina-victoria-craft-unsplash<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mayzent is able to show a reduction in the risk of cognitive decline and delayed wheelchair dependency<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":41894,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[425,384,326],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-42323","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-medical-treatment","category-articles","category-events-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.6 -
